The Retreat Centre is located within 10 hectares (25 acres) of mostly forested hillside facing north (the sunny aspect of the southern hemisphere) amidst palms and tropical forest flora and fauna. Ashiyana Alto is a tropical, mountain retreat centre located in the high plains at the centre of Brazil. We have a crystal clear river running through the land, “Paso Tempo”, offering several swimming holes and incomparably beautiful spots to sit and observe the unique beauty of this habitat - the river’s source is 1km upstream at the “Loquinas waterfall”. Alto Paraiso (“High Paradise”) has a very auspicious location, located at latitude 14 S - the same as the infamous “Machu Pichu” of Peru, and it sits on a vast bedrock of crystals, which according to NASA makes it the most luminous place on Earth when viewed from space. Because of this it is considered by many to be one of the major “high energy spots” of the world. It also boasts some of the most spectacular waterfalls and ravines in Brazil, as well as Lua Valley’s 200 million year old rock formations. It is immediately adjacent to the “Chapada dos Veadeiros” national park, and is establishing itself as an idyllic location for ecological tourism. Alto has a micro-climate, meaning that from April to September it has almost endless clear blue skies during the day, and wonderfully cool nights. April - August September - October Low: 8°C and High: 24°C Low: 13°C and High: 28°C We warmly invite you to come and visit us between 1st July and 15th October for this our first season. from next season we will open from April 2013 to March 2014. You can stay with us on one of our retreats, yoga holidays, or yoga teacher trainings. Alternatively join us for yoga classes and workshops at the drop-in centre if you are staying in the area. |
