Welcome to Ashiyana Brazil........... which we are delighted to be opening in June 2013
 

The Retreat Centre

The Centre is located within 18 hectares (45 acres) of mostly forested hillside, facing north (the sunny aspect of the southern hemisphere), amidst palms and tropical, mountain flora and fauna. We have a crystal clear river running through the land - “Paso Tempo”, offering several incomparably beautiful swimming holes and 'beaches'  from which to observe the unique magic of this habitat. The river’s source is 1km upstream at the “Loquinas Waterfall”. 
 

The Location

Ashiyana Alto is truly a 'retreat' centre, located in the high plains at the centre of Brazil. Alto Paraiso (“High Paradise”) has a very auspicious location, located at latitude 14 S - the same as the infamous “Machu Pichu” of Peru, and it sits on a vast bedrock of crystals, which according to NASA makes it the most luminous place on Earth when viewed from space. Because of this it is considered by many to be one of the major “high energy spots” of the world.

A Unesco World Heritage Site, Alto Paraiso also boasts some of the most spectacular waterfalls and ravines in Brazil, as well as Lua Valley’s 200 million year old rock formations. It is immediately adjacent to the “Chapada dos Veadeiros” national park, and is establishing itself as an idyllic location for ecological tourism, with its rich biodiversity, local culture, crystal clear waters, high waterfalls, natural swimming pools, ranging canyons,  and hiking trails.


The Climate 

Alto has a micro-climate, meaning that from April to September it has mostly clear blue skies during the day, and wonderfully cool nights. The wet season begins slowly in late September and continues through to early April. In many ways this is the most beautiful season though, since the rain rarely lasts for long, and the sun frequently breaks through the clouds and animates the stunningly verdant landscape.

We warmly invite you to come and visit us between 1st June and 30th September 2013 for this our first season. From the following season we will open from April 2014 to March 2015. You can stay with us on one of our retreats, yoga holidays, or yoga teacher trainings. Alternatively join us for yoga classes and workshops at the drop-in centre if you are staying in the area.
