VISIT THE SWEET WATER LAKE a 60 minute stroll along the beach takes us to this natural oasis to spend a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine, this sweet water lake is separated from the Arabian sea by just the sandy beach and is also well known for the mud that people put on their bodies to then dry out in the sun..... said to be healing and good for the skin! DAY TRIP TO PRADISE BEACH a 1 hour journey north will take us to the idyllic setting of paradise beach found in the next state of Maharastra home to some of the most unspoilt beaches on the Indian coast......real paradise. We will arrive for an early morning yoga practice on the beach and in the afternoon will walk up to the old red fort which, now disused with a certain charm and enchantment, is home to lots of monkeys and wildlife and from the battlements there is a terrific view of bay. THE YOGA For both beginners and more experienced yoga students apart from having fun and exploring Goa this retreat offers the chance to advance ones understanding of yoga as a tool of self discovery and development. Throughout the morning yoga sessions we will cultivate an ever increasing degree of sensitivity, focus, openness and awareness both on and off the mat so that our daily living becomes more effortless and enjoyable. Through simple and clear instruction using the dynamic yoga method and the Ashtanga style of practice we will encourage our body and mind to surrender so that we may experience ourselves at a much deeper level. The Dynamic Yoga Method utilises step-by-step-progression within the context of the five elements.... Space (dristhi.........awareness in yoga). Air (pranayama....breathing in yoga). Fire (bandhas...........energy in yoga). Water (vinyasa.......movement in yoga). Earth (asana............structure in yoga). As we progress through yoga practice the body and mind are invited to let go of residual tensions so that awareness and energy flow more freely and harmoniously. The daily yoga sessions will start at 8am and last approximately 2-3 hours, presenting an opportunity to explore and utilise breathing, awareness, movement and stillness through a combination of simple yoga techniques (asana, pranayama, meditation and relaxation). Time will also be allocated at the end of the morning session, to read and discuss yogic texts, like the yoga sutras, and for people to ask questions and share their yoga discoveries, thoughts and feelings. Evening sessions will last for approximately 1-2 hours and will vary from day to day. Each evening session will encourage a more explorative approach and illustrate many different ways that one can practice yoga.
