Born to Jamaican and Irish parents in England nowadays Scarlett spends the majority of her time living in Goa, India. In India her passion of music and dance has led to studies of Katak (Indian classical dance), playing the bansori (bamboo flute) and tabla (Indian percussion drums). For more than 15 years Scarlett has been practising yoga and sharing her experience of yoga with students for 4 years. She has trained with Godfrey Devereux (Dynamic yoga) and Larry Schultz (Ashtanga vinyasa and Rocket). Scarlett is a qualified Holistic Therapist trained in various forms of bodywork and healing and is available for treatments in Ashiyana. "Through my early adult years I delved into and out of different yoga, meditation and spiritual endeavors for a number of turbulent years, never really satisfied until I met a teacher of great significance to my life who introduced me to Ashtanga-the eightfold path and Advaita. I enthusiastically spent time as his apprentice and completed a teacher training which gave me an in-depth understanding and experience of yoga. Under guidance I began to grasp the fundamentals to the practice of yoga, which led to realizations on and off the mat. Through a deepening appreciation and practice of meditation and asana, study of the patanjalis sutras and the absorption of the teachings of Advaita, life began to make sense and I relaxed more and more into the flow. This was life-changing stuff! Yoga became an arena of discovery and exploration into my true nature and ultimately into the nature of life itself. On the mat concepts became experienced realities and the fuzziness of daily existence began to clear as my various practices offered deepening transformations to my emotional, physical and mental being. Like any great joy in life..... nature, laughter, friendship, love, I hope that the precious jewel of yoga is experienced throughout the world. I would love to see people live through the yoga teachings exploring their true nature and realizing their full potential. I hope that more and more people coming to yoga will find themselves journeying inward with awareness, good intentions and a connection to their inner wisdom, to enrich theirs, and the lives of people all around them, with relaxation, peace, joy, smiles, laughter and most of all LOVE."
