9th Jan - 8th Feb 2010 INTRODUCTION TO YOGA TEACHING LEVEL 1 COURSE This course is registered with Yoga Alliance (200 hours) LEVEL 1 - INTRODUCTION TO YOGA TEACHING This course offers you a comprehensive, practical training in how to teach yoga. We welcome experienced practitioners who would like to teach in the future and also those who would simply like to deepen their yoga practice. The course includes a mix of Vinyasa, Astanga, Iyengar and other styles of Hatha Yoga. You will be taught adjusting skills, prop usage, practical teaching, teaching skills, self inquiry, yoga philosophy, anatomy and meditation & pranayama. You will be given a course handbook to study throughout the month and some assigments to be completed during the course. For those students who are very experienced this course can give the edge they may need to start teaching, but for those with less experience, this course will offer a deepening of knowledge and inner inquiry as a stepping stone toward teaching. Please understand that following this course, you will not necessarily be ready to teach yoga. Teaching yoga takes many years of passionate dedication, persistence and consistency of practice. This course is not an Astanga yoga teacher training. This Level 1 course is registered for 200 hours with Yoga Alliance. If a student completes 200 hours (Yoga Alliance) with Yoga Arts or another certified training provider, the student will meet the pre-requisite for the Level 2 course and upon successful completion of a Level 2 training will received 500 hour certification (Yoga Alliance). SELF INQUIRY The challenging nature of our courses offers the opportunity for optimum growth and transformation. Most important for all these courses is that the process of self inquiry is understood. We expect that students enrolling for our courses have an understanding of the essence of Yoga beyond the techniques. Our objective in this course is to encourage awareness of how the tools and techniques of yoga can bring about inner transformation. This process of change is not always comfortable.
