Lalita

Lalita first discovered Yoga as a necessary medicine during a challenging chapter of her life. Inspired by the healing benefits she experienced from her own practice, her interests in a more conscious existence led her to India, where she left behind a career in chemistry to submerse herself in a more holistic approach to life, completing her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training with Linda d’Antal in 2012.

She is now on a dedicated journey of learning, absorbing, developing and sharing the healing arts. A familiar face at Ashiyana since 2013, her offerings in the last few years have evolved more into facilitating free, playful and expressive movement. As well as offering her yoga and bodywork, she created the hugely popular Ecstatic Shaking Sessions held at Ashiyana since 2015.

Her first experience of the transformative power of shaking came during an Osho Kundalini Meditation. Fifteen minutes of intense shaking to music ignited a flame in her that she had never before experienced. Her feet rooted into the ground; an energy had awakened in her that spiralled upwards and outwards and lifted her into euphoria and total joy. From that moment she was hooked on the practice.

For a while, her shaking was kept to personal meditations until she attended a shaking class held by Darren Austin Hall during a yoga festival. Witnessing a shala full of yogis - who had never moved in this way before - open themselves up, shake, sweat, dance and fully embrace the moment, she recognised that the medicinal power of shaking was something that she desired to no longer keep to herself but to share with others.

More recently, her journey into the expressive and ecstatic movement practices led her to spend an incredibly magical and life-changing four weeks in Bali in early 2017, training to facilitate 5Elements Dance ActivationTM Journeys with Malaika MaVeena Darville. This experience stoked further her passion for dance, breath, movement and connection…and has inspired her to integrate the embodiment of the elements in all of her practices.

Lalita is passionate about inspiring people to realise their own transformations. Her intention for all of her classes, workshops and retreats is to inspire and ignite the shake and somatic movement in everyone, in order that we may all reclaim our freedom, embrace our innate wildness and weirdness, and reconnect with our bodies, so that we can live more harmoniously within ourselves, with others and with this beautiful planet that we live on.

When not in India, Lalita can be found in London, Ibiza, the British countryside and wherever else this amazing life takes her!
